Outdoor Research might be the coolest organization making outdoor gear in America right now. Proof of that is their brand new Rangefinder Backpack.
In Florida—where I live—it rains a lot. Add that to the fact that I bike to work many days and there’s a recipe for trouble. Because I do my best to keep water away from my computer and important documents, I knew I needed a waterproof bag to transport my things on a day-to-day basis. I also have business meetings sometimes, where I need to not look completely like a scrub, so it’s nice to have a bag that follows suit.
The Rangefinder is smooth and shiny on the outside and has a waterproof roll-top closure hidden underneath a lid, for a backup to make sure no water gets in. As an awesome bonus, there’s a compartment in the lid that has a waterproof zipper. It’s got some sleek gear loops, too! And the buckles act as natural compression straps.
On the inside, there’s a padded laptop sleeve and a pouch, besides the rest of the ample space in the 24L bag.
I’ve even taken the bag on a few 2-3 day trips traveling in the US (with no other luggage) and I’ve had far-and-away enough space. I’m pretty minimalistic, but it’s more than even I need.
The bag is just plain cool, too. I’ve had many people ask me about it, so I’m able to rep for an awesome brand and their fantastic, versatile bag. When you're ready, stop in by the store to try the bag on for yourself!
